What We Do

RMT operates transfer sites, as an independent contractor, for major shippers in the oil and gas industry. We have over 19 years of experience, operating six different locations throughout Colorado, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, and Ohio. RMT’s extensive background with dealing in the oil patch makes us a specialist in meeting the many requirements that the oil and gas industry needs. RMT will arrange delivery to any job site 24/7.

Our Company

RMT began in 1994 when Rocky Mountain Transload, Inc. started operating Unimin’s first frac sand terminal in Lucerne, Colorado. Since then, Rocky Mountain Transload, Inc. has expanded to eight transload facilities. RMT Trucking, Inc., specializing in bulk transportation, and Mountain Logistics, LLC, a transportation logistics division, has also been added to RMT. RMT’s success is due to its strategic partnerships and support with our suppliers and their customers and the continual quality effort from our outstanding staff of employees.
RMT operates facilities that connect with 5 out of the 7 Class 1 railroads in North America and provides trucking for numerous large manufacturers and producers. RMT subsidiaries have received several performance awards. Rocky Mountain Transload, Inc. received the Eagle award from the Denver Transportation Club for service to the organization. RMT Trucking, Inc. has received the Platinum Award from Great West Casualty the past two years for zero road accidents.

Walt Sanders
WALT SANDERS,
PRESIDENT
Walt grew up on a dairy farm in Ohio and attended Ohio State University where he graduated with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He went on to work for the United States Department of Agriculture for several years and then returned to further his education at the University of Denver where he graduated with a Masters of International Business degree. After joining the Unimin Corporation in 1985 as a district sales representative, Walt eventually became Southeast Asia Sales Manager. In 1994, Walt and his wife Betty started Rocky Mountain Transload, Inc., to provide personnel to operate a frac sand terminal in northern Colorado. RMT expanded operations to include eight transload facilities, a trucking division and a transportation brokerage firm. These entities all operate under the corporate “RMT” umbrella. Walt has served as president of the Denver Transportation Club and the Transload Distribution Association. He is a member of several other organizations and contributes to local charities. Walt has traveled to over 60 countries and is still adding more to the list. He enjoys golfing, skiing, motorcycling and spending time with family and friends. He and Betty are proud parents of two daughters, Melissa and Amanda.
Betty Sanders
BETTY SANDERS,
VICE PRESIDENT
Betty grew up in Rhode Island and moved to Colorado in 1982 to meet a “cowboy”. After graduating with a Legal Assistant Degree, she worked for two different law firms for 8 years and eventually received a Bachelor of Science in Business from Columbia College. A few years later she found her “cowboy” in Colorado. Although, if you ask her she will say he was more of a farmer. In 1990 she married her cow-hand husband, Walt Sanders and together they started RMT. Betty has taken on many different roles as RMT grows the biggest role she plays is team cheerleader. Betty works with the controller to acquire assets and meet other financial demands. She enjoys family time with their two college-age daughters, hiking, getting together with friends, movies and creating fused glass art. Betty also enjoys riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle as often as possible.
Vanessa
SUE ENGELSTAD, 
CONTROLLER
Sue has been a Certified Public Accountant specializing in tax work for the past 25 years. Sue has worked for RMT since the early 1990’s and became their controller in 2011. Since becoming the controller at RMT she has become a significant role model with her team. Sue was born in Denver but spent a number of years on the east coast while earning her Bachelor of Sciences from the University of Connecticut. She enjoys spending time with her three children, who also live in the Mile High City. Sue enjoys skiing, golfing, hiking in the mountains, and most importantly cheering on the Denver Broncos! As does her entire family and extended RMT family. Sue is an active rotary club member and has traveled to Romania to help those in need. Additionally, she has worked with local charities for the betterment of many causes and illnesses. She has been a tireless advocate to this club for over 20 years and continues to be a community leader.
Dawn Parker
DAWN PARKER, 
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER
Dawn grew up in a small town outside Rochester, NY and spent many weekends traveling to horse shows with her Appaloosa, riding both English and Western style. She graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and obtained her Master of Human Resource degree from the University of South Carolina. Dawn is a certified HR Professional and began her HR career in 1999 with General Motors. She has worked for various manufacturing industries, including aerospace, refrigeration, as well as automotive retail. Her career has afforded her the opportunity to live in 10 different states. Dawn and her husband Kris have been married since 1995. She is a gourmet cook and used to have her own catering business. She and her husband enjoy cooking together, finding new restaurants and exploring different cuisines and wines. Always an animal advocate, Dawn’s immediate family includes her cat, Linden and dog, Beorn.
